HOW TO WRITE AN FORMAL EXCUSE LETTER FOR WORK ABSENCE

A formal excuse letter is a written document to clarify the reason of absence for a particular time. An excuse letter is important to properly address the concerned party with the reason for not being able to attend a business meeting, work, an appointment etc. A formal excuse letter is related to an apology letter. Both letters signify attempts for one party to reach out and make amends to someone, organization or group, that they inconvenienced with their performance.  A formal letter of excuse provides confirmation that you have both honesty and good character.

Dear Samantha Jade,

Good day!

Delta Corp. was supposed to organize a conference regarding the financial crisis that occurred this month. But unfortunately, we have to postpone the event by a few weeks as some of our shareholders are unable to fly back to the city due to their schedule.

We regret to inform you that we have to cancel the event. We would inform you of the exact date after confirming with all the shareholders. I know this can cause a serious issue if not sorted immediately and we apologize for the inconvenience.

We will surely solve the matter at our next conference. Thank you for your understanding and for giving us the opportunity to explain our situation.

Regards,

Martha Collins,

ManagerDelta Corp.
